I recall Mac#1 had excellent results with a 2.1 pinto with twin 40's. They modded the chokes and rejetted them. They said they had improved throttle response etc but i dont have exact details. mark Hinchcliffe at mac#1 is very easy to talk to and always like to help, he knows me well so might help if you name drop (Darren Wake from Bishop Auckland etc - yellow 2.1 pinto ex demo type ZR).
Your other option if funds are ight is to go down the bike carb route. Iam currently awaiting a manifold to be made for my ZZR1100 carbs. Bogg bros do excellent manifolds for around £180, or will clean up a set os supplied carbs and rejet for around £220. They will also supply carbs if you nee dthem to, iirc R1's are approx £80 - 100 a set on ebay and benefit having the throttle postion sensor included if you decide eventually to go down megajolt route. I bought a magejolt ECU with built in EDIS for £100. Coil pack and eads was £10. Ive got crank trigger wheel for £20. Crank sensor and throttle position sensor for free of old zetec. Length of Samco to mount carbs to manifold was £18. Need bike fuel pump (approx £30) and air filter next, oh and also possibly a choke cable. Carbs with dynojet fitted are apparently worth having to give some adjustability and spare jets (which can be drilled out with a set of 0.1mm increment drills).
If you are interested in bike carbs its worth doing a search on www.locostbuilders.co.uk. There have been loads o fthreads on this subject. My plan is fit carbs first on std dizzy. Once running ok fit the megajolt and once that is basically set up ill probs go for rolling road set up at possibly Boggys.
Im getting a lad from Tynemouth way to make my manifold but as ive been waiting a few months so far cant recommend till i see them and the final bill, should be a lot cheaper than Boggs tho'. Dene does ali fabrication as a hobby hence the wait. He did make me a very nice catch tank for not a lot of cash while i waited in May. _________________ All the best,
Darren. |
