Hi guys, those of you at the meet tonight will know I've volunteered to organise this event. Everyone there tonight seemed really keen on this so I'm going to ring a campsite in the Lakes tomorrow to check for availability and let them know we're coming.

There are two campsites I've got in mind which are:

http://www.watersidefarm-campsite.co.uk/index.htm

http://www.parkfootullswater.co.uk/index.html

I've stayed on both of these before and I think the top one, Waterside Farm, would be better as Park Foot are a bit fussy about single sex groups etc.

Once I've checked they have plenty of pitches available (which they should have) we'll send a form out to every member of the club with a reply slip on the bottom. Just fill it out and send it back to me and I'll pass the info on to the campsite and book as many pitches as we need.

Rich Smile

I phoned Waterside Farm this afternoon and they say we are welcome provided we are a mixed sex group. The woman sounded a bit apprehensive at first but I explained that we would have a mix of males and females and potentially the odd child or two as well. She said we would need to pay a noise deposit on arrival incase we cause a disturbance to other people. Usually they aren't too bad on noise times, they won't expect us to be quiet by 9pm for example, it should be more like midnight if I remember rightly.

The only hitch is, they don't allow single night stays on Saturday night for some reason which is a real pain in the arse so we'd be looking at having to make it a two-nighter and go over on the friday evening. But hey, two nights drinking has got to be better than one right?

They will have plenty of pitches available on this weekend too so the chances are we'll be able to choose where we pitch up, so we can pitch well away from other people and keep ourselves out of trouble Laughing

We need to know numbers asap so I can ring back and provisionally book pitches. Either confirm your attendance in this thread with exact details of how many extra people, children, dogs, gazebo's and cars you will be bringing. The standard price is £14 a night which covers a tent, two people and a car. All those extras they charge for.

Otherwise just return the form back in the post as soon as we've mailed it out to you which should be very soon.

Hope that wasn't too long winded Very Happy

Hi ALL
How are the plans going for the camping weekend. Any name yet?

Is anyone going is a van or large car that could take a couple of extra tents with them.

Cheers Rob

Still waiting for names. We have some names for people who were at the last meeting but Rich asked for numbers by 7th so not going to tempt fate yet by predicting a super response.

OK guys,

Have changed the booking to Park Foot site as Glen will then be able to come along too with his caravan. I've booked 4 pitches and had to pay 10 quid each up front so anyone backing out now owes me a tenner. We discussed meeting at Scotch Corner though quite a few of the blokes I work with travel back to Blackpool on a Friday and they avoid that section of the A66 due to roadworks. Will ring each of you next week to finalise meeting arrangements but looking to meet up sometime around 2:30 - 3:00 pm which allows us to at least set up the tents in daylight.

BTW it's not too late to add your name to the list

Those going are:
Tony Johnson
Rich Johnson
Rob Ryan
Billy Ryan
Dave Allinson
Glen Simpson

HI Guys

Just to let you know as this is the only second time out with the caravan, and Paula only drove the Cobra for the first time last weekend back from Donnington we are going to pull our little one out of school on friday lunch time and probably set off about 1 as will be a slower drive over for us, so either see you there or as you go wizzing pass on the A66

I travelled the A66 from Scotch Corner to Penrith and back today and I spotted 1 camera van and 4 unmarked police cars aswell as the 3 patrol cars, let this be a warning to you all, Speed at your own peril.
Cumbria Police WILL do you, you have been warned Embarassed

Totally agree, great company, great campsite, great scenery, great weather (if you exclude Friday & Sunday Rolling Eyes ).

Already thinking about next years outing. Probably up Northumberland way, great scenery again but the roads wont be quite so choked with bl@@dy tourists. My poor Ginetta's never done so many miles in second gear before.

Thanks to all who attended for making it such a good time.
